Dr N. Geetha Nagasree is a Senior Consultant Surgical Oncologist at Care Hospitals, Hyderabad and Vivekananda Hospitals, Hyderabad. She is the founder of Asvins Cancer Care Foundation.
Reputed to be the first formally qualified lady Surgical and Gynaecological Oncologist of the state, Dr Geetha Nagasree is an alumnus of Guntur Medical College, and completed her MD from the prestigious National Institute, JIPMER, Pondicherry. She finished her Super Specialty Degree MCh (Surgical Oncology) from one of India’s premier National Oncology Institutes, Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology and Regional Cancer Centre, Bengaluru.
Her training and work experience in Surgical Oncology include several reputed Institutes such as MNJ Institute of Oncology and RCC, Basavatarakam Indo American Cancer Institute and Research Centre, KIMS Hospitals, Hyderabad, Regional Cancer Centre, Trivandrum, and Institutes abroad such as UMCC, Nebraska, University of Illinois Hospitals, and Washington University Hospital.
Her repertoire includes the entire range of surgical oncology including head neck, thyroid surgeries and gastrointestinal malignancies. However, she has a special interest in women’s cancers, especially Gynaecological Oncology and Breast Cancer. She is specially trained in surgeries for advanced and recurrent ovarian cancers including HIPEC and extensive peritonectomies. She specializes in Minimally Invasive (Laparoscopic) surgeries and Breast Conservation surgeries.
She is the recipient of several International Fellowships and Awards including the Shingo Fuji Young Scientist Award, International Gynaecological Cancer Society (IGCS) Travelling Fellowship and the IGCS Travel Grant Award. She has received commendation as an active member of IGCS, and is an elected Executive on the Board of the Association of Gynaecological Oncologists of India ( AGOI).She recently bagged the Times Healthcare Achievers Award of the Year 2017 as the “ Rising Star of The Year in Oncology “
She has several International and national presentations and publications to her credit and is a regular faculty at national level CMEs. Her special areas of research include Personalized Medicine for breast cancer and recurrent gynecological cancers. She has addressed several CMEs within the Telugu speaking states as well and beyond. She is a regular contributor to the press, especially the vernacular medium on oncological health concerns.
Dr Geetha Nagasree is an active Rotarian of the Rotary Club of Jubilee Hills, (Dist. 3150) and is committed to the objective of mass screening for women’s cancers especially in the poor and underprivileged areas of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, and regularly conducts and directs camps for the same.
