The Centre For Environment Education Nepal ( CEEN ) was founded in Baisakh 2056 (April 1999). It is registered with Lalitpur District Office and it has also been affiliated with the Social Welfare Council and NGO Federation Nepal. The CEEN is founded mainly to Create Awareness on Environmental Education and Education for Sustainable Development (EE/ESD). Any citizen who misses EE/ESD today will be a blind person tomorrow in her/his thought and actions. EE/ESD, therefore, has to be a part and parcel of each individual for achieving a sustainable future. It aims at developing ethical values which guide the activities of an individual. It also enables us to understand that all the complex problems we hear today have roots in our daily activities and that, modifications in our attitudes and actions can have a positive impact on the environment.

We are currently running a lead project named SDGs in action where we focus to teach school children about different sustainable development goals and their targets through project-based learning, we engage youth in our project as volunteers. The project was initiated on June 5th, 2019, and we were focusing on 5 targeted schools but we had to pause the project because of the COVID-19 pandemic. We also conducted different virtual sessions during pandemics as well, we had virtual sessions of SDG in Action. Our mission is to educate & support people of all ages to take environmental action, in order to meet the national mandate of Sustainable Development. We have more than 50 youths engaging with us in our project SDGs in Action, in which we have 5 online volunteers and so on. We are also aiming to launch a green school project award where green schools get opportunities to participate and promote their practices. We have also completed some major projects in rural areas of Nepal, we implement a project in collaboration with HELVETAS named COPILA.

It is necessary to educate and support people of all ages to take environmental action, in order to meet the national mandate of Sustainable Development and to achieve SDG goals by 2030. The main aim of the Center for Environment Education Nepal is to encourage, empower and engage young minds in achieving Sustainable Development Goals by 2030
