Apollo Hospitals Educational & Research Foundation (AHREF) is an autonomous organization recognized by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) as a “Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) to carry out research, education and training programs to deliver quality health care. AHERF has evolved progressively into developing and introducing novel technology platforms in the fields of genetics, biomarker discovery, personalized medicine and health care. AHREF is also focused on leading basic & translational research as a part of which it has a well established state-of-art cell and molecular biology research center (CMBRC) at Hyderabad to carry out research activities. The CMBRC enables basic and translational research projects in cutting-edge sectors such as liquid biopsy, molecular diagnostics, and drug delivery.

Mission of the organization is to undertake and promote fundamental, basic and clinical research in major medical disciplines. AHERF’s Vision is to create a world-class entity for avenues in clinical and translational research, covering activities from personalized medicine, drug discovery, development, therapy, and marketing to the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industry.

AHERF undertakes and promotes scientific and medical research programs that have a bearing on the health of society including the industrial health needs of India. AHERF leverages the expertise of its researchers across the Apollo network comprising a large number of competent clinicians, who are able to source data from their vast patient pool, state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic technologies for their ongoing research. The scope of research is focused on developing cutting edge, therapies, platform technologies through its research entity: Cell and Molecular Biology Research Center (CMBRC) at Hyderabad. The Strength of AHERF lies in integrating the Apollo network stake holders and its collaborations with national and international organizations. The platform thus created is helpful for carrying out its research activities in wider research areas from healthcare to personalized medicine. Research is conducted with national and international norms and regulations. AHERF has a mix of GCPR trained research teams which consists of senior consultants, scientists, statisticians, clinical pharmacologists. These activities of AHERF are monitored by a governing board which reviews guides and ensures a seamless ecosystem.

The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs, also known as the Global Goals) are 17 goals with 169 targets that all UN Member States have agreed to achieve by 2030. Health has a central place in SDG 3, “Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages,” underpinned by 13 targets that cover a broad spectrum of WHO’s work. Almost all of the other 16 goals are related to health, or their achievement will contribute to health indirectly.

AHERF is working towards the development of SDG 3 by

• Developing new biomarkers and diagnostics leading to overall health
• Developing novel drug delivery systems
• Development of personalized medicine
• We are reducing maternal mortality and improving child care by developing urinary biomarkers for gestational diabetes.
