Tabatha Laverty is the Director of Marketing and Communications at the Accelerator Centre (AC) in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. A key senior leader, Tabatha is a champion for the AC brand and for fostering a diverse and engaged community of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Under her leadership, the AC successfully launched their redesigned flagship program, The Accelerator Program®, and the organization is now ranked as one of the top 5 private business accelerators in the world – and #1 in Canada.
Tabatha is best known for being a strategic leader who understands the importance of transparent and impactful communications, community development, and partnerships.
A journalist at heart, Tabatha is passionate about her work with nonprofits. Having spent over 10 years in the public and nonprofit sectors, Tabatha has worked with dozens of nonprofit organizations to help them create impactful brands that resonate and inspire real change. That is why she is particularly inspired by the AC’s programming in support of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.
A self-described data nerd, Tabatha prides herself in data-driven decision making. Her recent work with the AC to standardize data collection has resulted in a better understanding of the organization’s impact and a greater ability to reach, influence, and support entrepreneurs across the country.
Tabatha is a lifelong learner, holding a diploma in Television Broadcasting and post graduate certificates in social media management, inbound sales/marketing, and digital marketing. She is soon to complete an additional certificate in nonprofit sector management.
A wife and mother of 3, Tabatha embraces the challenges of balancing work with family life. She is an advocate for flexible work arrangements, workplace equity, and mental health and wellbeing. She takes care of her own mental health by practicing selfcare through her passion for music and enjoying neighbourhood walks with her family.
