Mohamed Ba, Senior coordinator, Digital Innovation Ecosystems, ITU
Moe Ba leads the Innovation Programme for the Development Sector at the International Telecommunication Union, the UN specialized agency for ICT/Telecommunication.
His role is to help strengthen ITU Membership capacity to accelerate digital transformation. His passion is to help communities unlock their potentials through stakeholder empowerment and connecting opportunities to resources.
The goal of the division is to strengthen ITU Member states innovation capacity through fostering innovation dialogues in various ecosystems, providing 360 degree innovation advisory services such as policy recommendations and high impact projects; empowering member states and ITU‐D membership; and foster an enabling environment for ICT entrepreneurship, innovation, creativity, and ICT centric innovation led socio‐economic transformation.
Prior to joining ITU, Mr. Ba spend many years in in the private sector, in Silicon Valley and throughout the USA working globally on technology development for ICT and Telecommunication. In his private sector roles, he has led teams in creating products, platforms, and introducing ICT innovation to markets . Mr. Ba is a seasoned executive with expertise in strategy, product and platform development, go‐to‐market, sales, innovation, operation, entrepreneurship, and ICT for development. Mr. Ba earned an MBA in Entrepreneurship from Babson College, USA; and a Master degree in Electrical engineering from the University of Minnesota, USA. Additional he holds bachelor degrees in manufacturing engineering and computer science. His passion is to help communities unlock their opportunities via empowerment and connecting opportunities to resources.
